This may be for you if you or your child have the following:
Such as autism spectrum disorders and global developmental delays
Including all forms of epilepsy and seizure-related conditions
Including congenital heart defects, brain malformations, and other anomalies present from birth
Including short stature, skeletal dysplasias, and bone development disorders
Including cerebral palsy, complex neuropathies, and muscle/nerve conditions
Including inborn errors of immunity, metabolic conditions, and conditions that affect how the body processes and breaks down food.
Including leukodystrophies, congenital hypoplasia, and other rare genetic conditions
Even if you’ve had testing in the past, it may be appropriate to explore testing again.
We'll connect you to a team with expertise to evaluate your symptoms, recommend and coordinate testing, and explain what it all means.
Consider duo or trio testing for your child
If you are interested in exome sequencing for your child, please consider trio or duo testing.
Duo or trio testing means sequencing includes analyzing samples from biological relatives:
• Proband only: testing evaluates the child without any other relatives
• Duo: testing evaluates the child plus one biological parent
• Trio: testing evaluates the child plus both biological parents Trio- or duo- testing increases the chance of finding a clear answer for a person’s symptoms by comparing the patient’s sequence with their parents’.
Children who underwent family trio analysis were almost five times as likely to receive a diagnosis than those for whom neither parent took part, researchers showed in this Deciphering Developmental Disorders study.
Please note that each biological parent interested in providing a sample for testing must be present at the genetic counseling appointment.
