Consider duo or trio testing for your child

If you are interested in exome sequencing for your child, please consider trio or duo testing.

Duo or trio testing means sequencing includes analyzing samples from biological relatives:

Proband only: testing evaluates the child without any other relatives

Duo: testing evaluates the child plus one biological parent

•  Trio: testing evaluates the child plus both biological parents Trio- or duo- testing increases the chance of finding a clear answer for a person’s symptoms by comparing the patient’s sequence with their parents’.

Children who underwent family trio analysis were almost five times as likely to receive a diagnosis than those for whom neither parent took part, researchers showed in this Deciphering Developmental Disorders study

Please note that each biological parent interested in providing a sample for testing must be present at the genetic counseling appointment.

Testimonials

What patients say about us

We used Probably Genetic about a year and a half ago and were able to get our doctors to finally listen to us and send us to genetics close to Boston to a CLIA certified lab. We never got a bill for any of it. Thank you to Probably Genetic for quite literally saving my sons life.

After I received my results from Probably Genetic, my doctor suddenly began running all sorts of tests/asking all kinds of questions, things I had told him but he never heard. So THANK YOU. I can't thank your company, your testing enough. It led to breakthroughs and actions from my doctors that would have never happened without you.

For three years, we were guessing, not knowing the cause of husband’s symptoms. The most his diagnosis was narrowed to was "maybe FTD" or "possibly early-onset Alzheimer’s."We needed to put an end to the uncertainty. I applied for free testing with Probably Genetic and that genetic test gave us the answer—Mark carries the MAPT gene responsible for FTD. While there may not yet be a cure for FTD, knowing the cause has brought us immense relief and allowed us to move forward with clarity.

We've been searching for answers for over a decade and I'd almost given up. I'm so grateful that Probably Genetic has taken it upon themselves to make this kind of potentially life-altering testing accessible to families like mine.
