About this program

Our genetic counseling and testing partnership

We've partnered with a leading telehealth genetics medical practice and laboratory to make comprehensive genetic testing more accessible than ever. Through our collaboration with Genome Medical and Variantyx, you may now be able to access whole-exome sequencing for your child from the comfort of your home.

Probably Genetic - We will refer you to Genome Medical for a telehealth appointment with a board-certified genetic counselor. Appointments are available within one week. Once connected to Genome Medical, please contact them directly if you have any questions about genetic counseling and testing.

Genome Medical - is our telehealth genetic counseling partner. Once your information is sent to Genome Medical, you will receive an email invitation to schedule a telephone genetic counseling appointment. Genome Medical is an in-network provider with many commercial health insurance plans and can submit the appointment to your insurance. There is also a $250 self-pay option for those who do not have insurance or have an insurance provider who is not in network. Note: The cost of a genetic counseling appointment does not include the cost of genetic testing.

Variantyx - is our lab partner. If testing is recommended and ordered by Genome Medical for Variantyx, they will ship you a sample collection kit, perform the genetic testing, and handle insurance submission for the test. Based on your initial assessment with Probably Genetic, your child’s symptoms may meet medical guidelines for genetic testing.

Important: Once connected to Genome Medical, all future communications regarding genetic counseling and testing will be directly between you and Genome Medical.  If genetic testing is recommended and ordered, Variantyx will contact you regarding any out of pocket responsibility, insurance coverage and kits. Please contact Variantix with any questions regarding testing costs or insurance coverage. Probably Genetic will not be involved in the subsequent steps of this process except to upload any final testing results into your Probably Genetic profile.

After I received my results from Probably Genetic, my doctor suddenly began running all sorts of tests/asking all kinds of questions, things I had told him but he never heard. So THANK YOU. I can't thank your company, your testing enough. It led to breakthroughs and actions from my doctors that would have never happened without you.

For three years, we were guessing, not knowing the cause of husband’s symptoms. The most his diagnosis was narrowed to was "maybe FTD" or "possibly early-onset Alzheimer’s." We needed to put an end to the uncertainty. I applied for free testing with Probably Genetic and that genetic test gave us the answer—Mark carries the MAPT gene responsible for FTD. While there may not yet be a cure for FTD, knowing the cause has brought us immense relief and allowed us to move forward with clarity.

We used Probably Genetic about a year and a half ago and were able to get our doctors to finally listen to us and send us to genetics close to Boston to a CLIA certified lab. We never got a bill for any of it. Thank you to Probably Genetic for quite literally saving my sons life.

We've been searching for answers for over a decade and I'd almost given up. I'm so grateful that Probably Genetic has taken it upon themselves to make this kind of potentially life-altering testing accessible to families like mine.
